A 2014 Harvard study suggests that men who eat processed meat like hot dogs and salami have a 23 percent reduction in the normal sperm count. One of the theories is that processed meats are rich in hormones, antibiotics and other synthetics. These could potentially wreak havoc on the functioning of the reproductive system.
  • Sodas and foods containing added sugars: the world loves carbonated beverages. Many don’t even think about the ingredients found in sodas and how these could potentially impact health. A study presented in the Human Reproduction journal in 2014 suggests that men aged 18 to 22 who consumed 1.3 servings of sodas per day had 9.8 percent lower sperm motility than guys who refrained from consuming drinks featuring added sugar. A similar conclusion can be reached about meals that have added sugar as a flavor enhancer.
  • Refined vegetable oils: there’s some evidence that the use of refined vegetable oils for cooking purposes is linked to a reduction in testosterone. They have a low smoke point, which is why the refining process is needed to “stabilize” the final product. A study from 1997 suggests that high intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids reduces testosterone levels. Interestingly, the saturated fats that were stigmatized until recently were shown to be beneficial for increased testosterone production. Some good saturated gats for guys include coconut oil and grass-fed, free-range butter.
  • Foods containing trans fats: margarine is a common source of trans fats. These are lipids produced through the so-called hydrogenation. The lipids that are usually liquid at room temperature become solids through this process. Trans fats are responsible for causing systemic tissue inflammation. In addition, they have well-established testosterone-decreasing qualities.
  • Alcoholic beverages: this one is a no-brainer. A glass of wine every now and then is a good idea. The excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages is not. The amount of alcohol consumed is directly related to a decrease in testosterone levels. A study presented in Alcohol and Alcoholism journal in 2002 had researchers getting blood samples from intoxicated individuals. In the samples, cortisol levels were up, while luteinizing hormone and testosterone levels were down.

Foods To Incorporate in Your Male Enhancement Routine

Now that you know which foods have a negative impact on your male enhancement efforts, it’s time to take a look at the numerous options that will help you increase your potency, strengthen your erectile response and boost your fertility.

Luckily, nature has given you a big number of delicious options that you can rely on to make finger-licking good meals that are also beneficial in terms of male enhancement.

All fruits and veggies are a good pick, especially if you consume these raw or lightly cooked. Fruits and vegetables contain an array of essential vitamins and nutrients. On the other hand, the cholesterol found in the egg is needed for the production of the primary sex hormone – testosterone. This is the main reason why bodybuilders consume such large quantities of eggs when trying to bulk up.

When it comes to boosting fertility, there’s a theory that phallus-shaped foods are beneficial for penis health. These include celery, bananas, asparagus and many others. While the theory may not be the most scientific one out there, all of the mentioned foods contain nutrients that can have a major positive impact on fertility and libido.

A few other great foods that you should consider incorporating in a healthy male enhancement diet include:

  • Raw nuts like pistachios, almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts and Brazil nuts
  • Oily fish and other sources of omega-3 fatty acids
  • Citrus fruits because they contain large quantities of vitamin C (a powerful antioxidant)
  • Oysters
  • Dairy products like milk, yogurt, cottage cheese and sour cream
  • Lean cuts of meat and all kinds of seafood
  • Natural sweeteners like honey (an excellent replacement for sugar and artificial sweeteners)
  • Lentils, beans and other plant-based sources of protein
  • Dark chocolate (in small quantities)

In essence, getting the improvement that you want is all about balance. This article doesn’t mean you should get rid of the bad foods altogether. Having a hamburger now and then isn’t going to ruin your fertility. Still, beneficial meals should be consumed in larger quantities than harmful temptations like French fries and donuts.
